How to use Image DPI Changer

DPI metadata describes an intended output density for compatible software. Changing it does not change the image width, height, or amount of real pixel detail.

  1. Choose a PNG or JPG and confirm its pixel dimensions.
  2. Enter the density requested by the printer or document workflow.
  3. Download the file and verify its interpreted print size in the destination application.

Practical example

A 3000 pixel wide image marked as 300 DPI has a nominal print width of 10 inches in software that honors the metadata.

Useful tips

  • Ask the printer for its actual requirements.
  • Calculate print size from pixels divided by PPI.
  • Keep the original metadata copy.

Limitations

Some applications ignore DPI metadata. Raising the number does not create additional detail or improve a low-resolution source.
